E. Clowser on the night the murder was committed returned home on the train arriving in Council Bluffs Sunday night. Sheriff DeMoss made a record drive to Miles City which is over 800 miles from here. They left here at 11 o’clock Thursday and arrived in Mitchell, S. D., at 10 o'clock that night, where after a short nights rest they hit the trail again at 5 a. m. but by Friday evening Mrs. Travers had developed a sick headache and County Attorney Whitney Gillilland who had had no rest Wednesday night, he having driven to Des Moines to get extradition papers for DeGreene from Governor Hammill, stopped for a night’s rest at the hotel and ftfiislted th? journey of 175 miles on the train. Sheriff DeMoss rci^aifted behind the wheel in the Victory Six, the entire time and drove into Miles City about 5 o'clock Saturday morning. Further word from Miles City coming through the medium of the press intimates that DeGreene had been in a Miles City hospital with a broken leg but had recovered and was in jail when the Glenwood authorities arrived.Mrs. Travers Told Not to Talk.Mrs. Travers said this Monday morning that the officials had told her to make no statements and although questioned by many this Monday morning she refused to talk about the matter and smiling told all of her many inquirers that they would have to wait until the officials returned. She even said she did not know whether they were bringing DeGreene back with them or not. She left Miles City Saturday afternoon. It is expected, however that if Sheriff DeMoss makes as good time coming back as he did going out that he will arrive in Glenwood some time this Monday night. Harry Norman of the Fair Store, former Chariton resident it is expected will be called upon to identify DeGreene when they arrive here with him, as he remembers seeing Clowser and his companion enter the Cozy Cafe. Mr. Meredith, night man at the Darting Garage will also probably be called upon to identify DeGreene as it is believed the man who was with Clowser drove in there with Clowser’s car about midnight that night and had Mr. Meredith fill it with gas.
