MRS. ACKLES IS NOT GUILTYThat Was the Decision of the Jury This Morning.JUDGE GREEN INCENSED OVER THE VERDICT.Court Adjourned Till Monday Morning.—No Decision in ElectionCase.The jury in the cose of Mrs. O.Aokles cumu in ubont 10 o’clook this morning with a verdict of acquittal for the defendant.The onse is one that is well known to Oass county peoplo. One July night, 1903, three yoong men went to the Ackles home here In Atlantlo, and, it is alleged, were entertained by Mrs. Aokles. The young fellows finally got into a quarrel among them-solvea [and at that time Mr. Aokles entered the room and began shooting. Two of the young men wore seriously wounded, but finally recovered. Mr. arid Mrs. Ackles wore arrpsted on the charge of attempting to. commit murder and for keeping a house of prostitution. In the trial that followed Ackles waB found guilty of the charge of attempting to oommit mur-dei and was sentenced to a term In the Fort Madison penitentiary, where he is now doing servioe.The trial of Mrs. Ackles on the obarge of koeping a house of prostitution oame up this week and her lius-bqnd ‘was brought baok from Fort Madison to testify in her behaif. The threo young ruen who took part in the shooting affair wore witnesses In the trial and gave some sensational testimony. ..£ VWhen the jury returned a verdoit of not guilty this, morning Judge Green was almost beside himself. He looked at tlie jurymen for a moment In a dumbfounded manner and then said, Gentlemen,-T am surpiised at thisverdiot. *?.. T'lien instead of laying the dooumont on hip desk in a oolm manner, ho-threw it on the.desk in a violent manner, to emphasize his disgust.Judge Green adjourned court tills afternoon and Went to his home at Audubon to spend Sunday. He has not yet decided tho case of Morrisey against G oodgo. •
