The Croydon hold-up case was one of the Interesting trials of the week. The defendants, Robert M. Weaver and J Charles Taylor, colored, were charged with robbery and carrying concealed t deadly weapon*. John Handwork, confec- * tioner, of. Philadelphia, who was held up {on the Bristol p»ke oear Croydon on Friday evening, September 4, last, was the prosecutor in the ca%e and described the assault committed upon him, the details of which have been printed in the Cassette. Edward Barton, Constable Mason, of Morrisvllle, and fi. E. Hall, superintendent of the trolley road, testified for the prosecution- Robert M. Weaver, one of the defendants, denied that he was in Bucks county the night the robbery was committed. Be said he and Taylor had been traveling together for about thoee months. Taylor was not called to the stand. The jury returned a verdict of guilty. Both were sentenced to the penitentiary for eight years. Judge Yerkea reconsidered the sentence Wednesday morning upon petition of their cpunsei, Mflggrs, Vaaattsdttlen and William R. Stuckert, Esq*. The defendants' counsel have also asked for a new trial. Judge Yerkes stated that if the motion for the new trial was overruled he would impose a much more severe seatenee upon the de-fondants than was pronounced Tuesday
