MolestingincidentsreportedA seven-year-old girl and a West Virginia University coed were molested on Morgantown streets Tuesday afternoon, Morgantown City police confirmed today.The daylight attacks took place less than one hour apart on opposite ends of town.The seven-year-old child was taken to University Hospital and treated for minor injuries after she was molested in the South Park area at approximately 3:26 p.m., police reported.About 30 minutes prior to the South Park incident, a WVU student was grabbed from behind while she was walking behind the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, 396 Patteson Ave., police said. The unidentified coed was unharmed.The attacker in the South Park area was described as approximately 20 years old, having black hair and wearing an orange shirt. The man involved in the other incident was described as about 21 years old, approximately 120 pounds, five feet and six inches tall and having black hair.Police indicated that two incidents appear unrelated.“We have nothing at this time to substantiate that the same person was involved in the two molestings,” said Morgantown Police Chief Bennie Palmer.The Combined Civic Clubs Committee will discuss the two molestings at its regular meeting tomorrow noon. Several mothers from the South Park area are expected to attend and the possibility of forming a “block mothers group to prevent such offenses will also be discussed.
