FRACTURED SKULL.Injury Which May Cause the Death of Oscar Dickey.Serious Ending to a SaturdayNight Fight.John Barry Missing—Police WantHim.Oscar Dickey, an unmarried man, who resides with his mother on Toledo street, was badly worsted Saturday night in an encounter with John Barry, and may die as a result of his injuries,Saturday night about 12 o’clock, David Hallam, proprietor of the Eighteenth street saloon, near the Wabaeb bridge, was awakened by Barry, who requested the privilege of telephoning for a physician to attend a man whom he said was badly hurt, Ke vouchsafed no further information, and after telephoning for Dr. Ballard, left the house and has not been seen since. When the phyBimun arrived, he found Dickey lying at his home in an unconscious condition suffering from a compound fracture of the skull.It has heen learned that a grudge of several weeks’ standing existed between Dickey and Barry. Dickey has been working for R, A. Gillespie, a well digger, and cherished a dislike to Barry because he held the latter responsible for the loss of a contract to dig a well. Trouble had been narrowly averted on one or two occasions, and those who aaw the 11 fight Saturday night claim that e I Dickey was the aggressor. Barry 9 I was standing on the bridge talking with some friends when Dickey chanced along and proceeded to pick a quarrel with bis enemy. Hr is much larger than Barry, and the latter seized a rock and warmed him keep away. Dickey was dertermined, and only desisted when stretched insensible on the ground by a blow on the head from the missile hurled by Barry. In falling his head etruek with stunning force and it is believed tli^t the fracture resulted fromthe fall the other being due to the blow. The injured man lias lain in a stupor ever since the fight and his condition is critical. The blood is removed from his head every few hours and if it is possible to keep the brain clean and healthy he will recover. Through aome oversight the affair was not reported to the police till late yesterday afternoon and although diligent search has been made for Barry he cannot be found.
