Herrin testified to bey. log dressed the wounds of the injured mso on September 10, He described the iis*lire of the two wouuds. He saw Begley again ou Monday and Tuesday, but did not again see him until the post mortem examination.Dr. Charles E. Baird, coroner's physician, deposed and said that he made the post-mi*i tern examination with Dr. Harris in the presence of Dr a. Fahey and Maul. The smaller wound at the end had penetrated the peritoneum and peritonitis had canned the death of Begley. The wounds seemed to have been made by a razor Jeremiah Ricketts testified that on the Sunday evening in question a colorod man. whom he knew to be Alexander Dandridge, came to Mount Eton Baptist Church. His nose was bleed lug aud his bosom was covered with blood. Dan* dridgo told the witness that four whit# wen had jumped on him at Seeoud and West street*. He went with him aud got bht bat at that place,Harry P. Smith deposed to his being in coinpinv with the deceased on that evening. Heard the colored man and Begley talking as they went up the street. He then aaw the men clinch aud ran to Begley’a assistance and got cut on the side bltnaeif. They were not at Mount Eton Church that evening.Chief Dolan testified to the taking of Begley's deposition, who, understand ing that death atared him In the face, said that the colored man had cut him crosswise aud downwards. Begley did cot know bis assailant hut described him a* being about ft feet 7 inches in height, wore a straw hat aud dark clothing and that his complexion was of dark copper color.The following verdict was rendered by the Jury“That Edward F. Begley cam© to his death by peritonitis, caused by wounds inflicted by a colored man, hollered to be Alexander Daud ridge, ou the night ofBent ember 10, 1898*Dr. JohnC. The doctor was present at the post-mortem examination lit his evidence Dr. Fahey did not differ with either Dr. Harris or Dr. Baird.
