Our County Poor House.We have bec^a requested by some ot the most influential citizens of the county to make mention of the county ! poor house. In doing so, we do not attach the blame to anyone, not^to the4 .«■/. it’- v *y •» i' ••County Commissioners or to the keeper; the Commissioners feel a delicacy in speaking in regard to it, believing it to be the business of the peoptT The blame is attributable some fauise. and wc rricrely mention the fact in order that it may be remedied. The people should attend to the matter at once, and it is perhaps a thing that many of them have never^considered, but it is appalling in this ago of civilization and right, in this county that ah ^individual who is incurably ihsanc, should be chained as a beast for months at a ifcimb. ’ Yetsueli,is.thp.case. There surely should be somd arrangements made to secure the comfort of these poor unfortunates, who are confined in the county poor house, without any of the ameliorating influences of modern civilization; Wc hope, that this deplorable state of affairs will be attended to, and we appeal to thp. sympathies of the peojile and hope they will give it their worthy consideration, and thus lessen, to a certain extent^ the sufferingspf the pnfortunateapd thp insane of ourf counterJ: / § f ¥¥
