He and his son Joel, 26. who had been engaged to the girl, put the body into a steel drum and buried it on his farm in Northern Indiana, near Chesterton, it was charged.(EDITOR'S NOTE — Since the young woman’s body was found buried near Fumessville nearly • year ago, most accounts of the case have reported the body was in a steel drum. Coroner Leonard Wet moreadvised The Vidette-Messengerhe took the body from the shallow grave and it was not in a drum.)Defense attorney Peter Georges said he expected to complete the presentation ofevidence for Saikin today.Georges said he was not surewhether Saikin would take the witness stand. The elder Saikin has charged his son killed Miss Scott.A«; its final witnesses in the case, the state called two dentists and a Valparaiso, Ind., widow and her two daughters, although it was agreed the state later may call a pathologist to testify.Dr. Robert Mixer of Muskegon.
