Hisfirst move was to ask for a change of venue which Special Judge Pattee refused. Judge Pattee continued thecase until Thursday when it must go to trial with a jury selected from Porter county.Bringing a jury from one county into another is an old statutory provision, but has rarely been resorted to.ylt;cMscb;lothceicw.Nlt; I m heBurke forfeited his bond of $100 yesterday in Judge McMahan’s court j in the case of the State of Indiana vs. Burk, the charge being that Burk ran ; his automobile without a license. He j was arrested -earlier in the season by I the Dyer marshal and was convicted, I by appealed his case to the circuit court. Yesterday when the case came up for hearing he vfras conspicuous by j his .absence and John Kennedy who j jr went his bond at the time will have j ex to pay the state the forfeit moneyiThe case of Davis and Tinkey will , heard today and there is enougn evidence against the pair to warrant ! 1a stiff verdict against them, which will have a tendency to stop the operations of Chicago crooks in Lake county, at least.Investigation has proven that both men have bad records behind them.Burke’s bonds were fixed in Mayor Krost’s city court at $3,000 and since that time he has made desperate but futile attempts to have them reduced. Mayor Krost is being congratulated today upon his determined stand to fix nearly the maximum bond, which of forfeited will probably be the highest amount ever paid In the state coffers. -isI at
