JORDAN...(Continued from Page 1)himself into police in August in Missouri after learning an arrest warrant had been issued for the theft of the car.Jordan took some beer from Thompson’s property and gave those subjects the beer. They then left the premises leaving Jordan.Jordan then waited for Thompson’s return. Once Thompson did return at about 3:30 p.m., Thompson and Jordan sat on a couch drinking beer.Wheatcroft said that Jordan told him and special agent David El-wood, of Illinois’ Division of Criminal Investigation, that Thompson had “slapped Jordan on the butt.”The testimony went on to revealthat Jordan, being in the service, didn’t think that much about the incident, but when Thompson later purportedly “cupped the (genitals) of Jordan,” Jordan pushed him away.“Joe Jordan said he freaked out because no one had ever done anything like that to him,” Wheatcroft said.Jordan then ran into one of two bedrooms and picked up a .30-30 rifle and a 16-gauge shotgun. From the bedroom, Wheatcroft continued, Jordan shot Thompson with the shotgun in the upper left arm.Thompson fled through the garage where Jordan, having followed him, fired the high-powered rifle and hit Thompson again in the arm. The third, fatal shot came when Thompson made it outside his home about 10 feet from the pickuptruck where Jordan had left thebody.“He dragged the body behind the pickup and covered it with a quilt to cover it up so no one could see it,” Wheatcroft testified Jordan had said during interrogation.Shells from the rifle were found in the approximate areas of the shootings, though the shotgun shell was not lound. The body was leftapproximately 50 feet from the road.Wheatcroft had earlier testifiedyesterday that Jordan told Reed, who drove Jordan to Illinois fromArkansas the weekend before thekilling to pick up the Mustang, thathis “uncle” was going to give him the car.During cross-examination,Wheatcroft said it was determined Thompson had previously bought Jordan an older model car in the spring of this year.
