October, 1806r Jio: took out a policy inthe above company, baying W. J. Han*code, of this city, the -premium. Thepolicy was No. 0,830; Mr., McLaughlin was injured in -March, last and sent in his bill for $8.60. In April he got anotice from the Company that his insure anco policy had. lapsed. because of nonpayment of the premium.* i ,Mr.McLaughlin hunted up his receipts and found that he had kept np iiis payments and so notified the company. Ho called uponMr.Hancpek and it is allegedthat the latter- told Mr. McLaughlinstories reflecting hpon tho credit of thecompany. A* few days ago Mr. McLaughlin called upon tho agents of the company in Syracuse and they again informed him that they had never received the premium and that thov could not pay tho claim.' They sent letter^ to their former representative, calling hia attention to tho matter and requesting that he take steps to settle tho matter np. ’Mr. McLaughlin says that Mr. Hancock had promised to settle with him by_September_15th^but_he.did.not_do_80 And ii qw hoproposes to sue tho company,besides layingiho facts in~theme before tho Grand Jury in October. It l said that there are a number of other cases pf the same kind in Oswego. Mr. McLaugoliu says that ho has another claim of tho Standard Accident Insurance Company, of Detroit, that caraoabout in tho samo way. Tho Syracuse company has warned Mr, Hancock against speaking slightingly of their busi ness integrity,*3st]1
