Separate TrialDecision ByJudge WaiteddMIAMI (AP) - A judge will dec ide within two weeks whether to grant separate trials for Candace Mossier, 46. and her younger nephew, charged in the slaying of multimillionaire Jacques Mossier, 69.Lawyers for Mrs. Mossier and Melvin Powers, accused by the prosecution of being lovers, argued for separate trials Wednesdav.Percy Foreman. Powers* law*tyer from Houston, said the state had information that the Mossier*.s life had been threatened j by several persons.State Atty. Richard Gcrstein denied it.Judge George Schulz heardother defense motions, including lone asking for inspection of the prosecution's evidence.Gerstein said defense counsel ■would bo given “what the law allows—no more, no less.”Mossier was stabbed andj beaten to death here June 30,; 1064 Police arrested Powers in I Houston a few days later.He and Mrs. Mossier wereindicted earlier this year on first degree murder charges.
