CiLKNDALG.Several days ago Sam Tansey, out of love and aftection for Mrs. Fanrie Wjlstfn, presented her with a spring mattress. Saturday his wife got wind of the matter, and to show her extreme displeasure at the conduct of her better half secured an ax and proceeded vi et arm;s to the residence of Mrs. Wilson and without more ado chopped the offendirg mattress into pieces. Now Mrs. Wilson, though she prides herself or her forbearance, which is akin to that of Job’s, had anticipated enjoying “nature’ssweet restorer” amid the undulatirg softness of the mattress and so took violent exception to this Junovese wrath a-d straight away hied herself to Marshal Kirwin, that refuge to which so many troubled spirits fly. That official, ever jealous to preserve the peace and dignity of his bailiwick, immediately locked Mrs. Tansey up In the village bastile. Later she was bailed out, and will have a hearing tomorrow evenirg before Mayor R.chardson on a charge of mail clous destruction of property.
