Diehl, chairman ! of the Ohio Covered Bridge Committee and a resident of Lockland,One side of the marker will describe early Lockland, so named because of the four canal locks at the site The other side will recall the fun that the canal provided—fishing, boating, swimming, ;ce skating, and even romancing. This is the seventh marker to le erected along the Miami and Erie Canal The Allen County Historical Society will soon place another one at the deepest cut in the canal near Spencerville.Mechanical damage, not decay, is the principal reason for replacing railroad ties.
