YOUTHS HELD IN ASSAULTr rrAlleged to have attacked a 68-year-old man and robbed him of approximately $10, two North Lawrence youths were being held today In the Wayne county jail under $5,000 bond each.The youths are Earl Derr, 18, and Elmer Buttermore, 20, who are alleged to have used a sjjade in an attack on Henry Walters, of R. D. 1, Dalton, at Walters’ residence, Saturday night.Walters told Wayne county officers that two men appeared at his residence Saturday night and asked for a shovel and that they then proceeded to use the spade he gave them in an attack on him.Walters was badly battered but was able to appear Monday afternoon when the two youths, .who were picked up for investigation by Wayne county officials after Walters reported the attack, were arraigned before Justice of the Peace O. C. Franks on charges of assault with intent to rob.The two pleaded not guilty anu were bound over to the Wayne county grand jury under bond of $5,000. They were returned to jail when they were unable to furnish bond. The grand jury meets next Monday.
