Sept. 15.—(Spe-eial.)—Sheriff Teeter and a posse of men are scouring the country for the bandits who held up and robbed Rock Island train No. 11 Tuesday morning near Letts. It Has been reported that the men are in that vicinity. The sheriff’s posse is working eastward. With the Muscatine posse on the river east of Wayland and the Washington sheriff closing in on the bandits from the west it may yet result in their capture.Winfield, la. Sewell here and ordered supper. This was about 9:30 o'clock. They also ordered food which they carried away with them. These facts pieced together lead the authorities to the conclusion that the Rock Island bandits have slipped through their fingers, for the time being anyway.Description of the Men.Th*j description of the men as given, by Mr. Sewell tallies with the description of two of the train robbers now in the possession of the Rock Island detectives, one of whom, at least is on his way to this place. Mr. Sewell says one of the men is heavy set, wore a black suit: was five feet six or seven inches in heighth and was middle aged His countenance Mr. Sewell describes as being a Hebrew cast.The other man was nearly or quit© six feet in heighth. He wore a gray suit. His mustache was heavy and was dark, either brown or black. He also had a two weeks’ growth of beard on his face.
