Fugitive captured by state policeBy SANDRA HAIMILA KJ staff writerWASHINGTON — An undercover scheme led to the apprehension Tuesday night of a Pittston man who had evaded state police for nearly two weeks.Dale Jackson, 26, of the Pinkham road, was arrested along with Coleen W'are of the Nelson road, Chelsea, who is Jackson's girlfriend, according to police. * -Police said the couple was picked up by two undercover agents and led to believe'they would be driven to Rhode Island. The car was stopped at 7:30 p.m. on Rte. 206 here by a state police road block.Jackson, who was taken to Kennebec County Jail Tuesday, was expected to be transferred-to the state prison at Thomaston today on a parole violation. Jackson was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon. Police said he had a handgun in his possession when he was arrested Tuesday.The Pittson man also has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and aggravated assault resulting from a shooting Aug 27 at the Ware residence on the Nelson road He was accused of firing a shotgun at the house and injuring two people inside.The probation and parole office issued a violation warrant when it learned of those charges against Jackson. However, when state police went to arrest Jackson on Aug. 31 on the parole violation, he fled and had been at large since.- Ware, arrested for aiding and abetting a wanted felon, was also taken to the county jail.Police departments throughout the state were advised to consider Jackson armed and dangerous after he'escaped.Heading the state police investigation were Sgts. Gregory Spitzer and Durwood Durrell. Cpl. Marcel Druin and trooper Clifford Howard.
