Harris, proprietor of the International hotel, 109 South Alain street, last night shot, and killed the woman and then oommitted suicide.The tragedy oecurred shortly hetore 11 o’clock and as far as known as not witnessed hy anyone. The positionrif the woman's body, however, indicated that Harris had met her at the head of the stairway leading to the second floor of the International and tad at once opened fire. She was shot twice through the body, one bullet reaching* the heart, and death was apparently instantaneous. Apparently Harris had then seated himself on the floor of the hallway and placed the revolver to his temple and fired. Three diots were heard by those in the hotel and several of the guests rushed to the scene of the tragedy. When they arrived, both Harris and the woman were dead.Friends of the collide declared that Harris had been importuning the woman to marry him and that siie had aroused his jealousy to a high pitch. |Bfeltlier Wert* Well Known.Harris leased the international hotel November 1, 1911, and has since been In charge of the pioneer hostelry. Before coming to Helena he worked n f,owistown and other parts of eastern Montana. He was a uiiiet, units-mming man of about 40 years of age mil had nlt;* intimate associates. Inters found on his person indicate that jis mother, Mrs. O. J. Donaldson, lives n Chester Hill. Ohio, and she has been lotified of the tragedy.Bessie Hyde has lived in Helena for several years and met Harris but a few months ago. She is said to have relatives in the state of Washington, ihat tlius far the location of her family has not been determined.-- j
