A good story is told on the Sheriff of Allen county. Last week a man at Aboite stole a meerschaum pipe from a brakeman on the W abash road. A warrant was sworn out against the fellow and the Sheriff went down and arrested his man. During the time he was compelled to wait lor a train to come along he became thirsty and went over to a pump near by to “take something.” When he came back his man was out in the middle of the swamps and making good time. The Sheriff spent two days hunting tor his man and then went home without him.
