Lizzie and a companion were arrester! for firing a school house on the Keshan a reservation. Lizzie admitted -t-he crime and under the antiquated laws It was the duty ol Judge Quarles* to sentence her to life imprisonment and she was taken to the penitentiary at Lansing, 3tan. A pent ion lor the commutation of her sentence was prepared Immediately and signed hy Judge Quarles and the government officials.
