Were the Police w ho Arrested a young Victim of Hold Highwayman.James Heed, a young man recently employed at Billie and Joe’s saloon on Soledad street complained to the police this morning that ahighwayman robbed him of .^5 in money and a gold chain near the San Pedro Springs last Saturday. He averred that the robber drew a pistol and would have shot him had not he put his finger under the hammer. The police did not believe him, they said, and soon afterward* he was arrested and put in jail by Officers Hughes and Ziegler.
