COOPERA Prominent Stock-Dealer Arrested On Charge ofLarceny.William B. Cooper of Ireland, one of thebest known stock-dealers in this county,was arrested at his home in Ireland lastMonday at noon, on charge of grand larceny. The affidavit was sworn out by Christian Rudolph of Portersviile, a prominent and wealthy farmer and stock-dealer of that place, and a partner of Cooper.It is reported here that Rudolph and Cooper together purchased a car load oflive stock last week, with the exception of a few head, which Rudolph furnished individually to make out thlt;* car load, and thatCooper was to drive the stock to Hunting-burg last Saturday and ship the stock tothe city market. It is further reported thatCooper took the stock to Huntingburg but instead of shipping it on to the city market, that he sold it to a local dealer there, receiving the money for it and as Rudolphcontends, appropriated it to his own use.Rudolph tiled his affidavit in two countsthe first charging the larceny of the valueof the individual stock furnished by Rudolph. and the second count charging the larceny of $645, the value of the stock the two purchased together w ith the money ofRudolph.The case was filed before Justice of thePeace Frank L. Betx, and will come up for hearing Sept. 19th.Mr. Cooper contends that he is not guilty of the charge against him. and says thathe sold the stock at Huntingburg, because he thought he was realixing as much out of it as it would bring In the city, after deducting expenses of shipping. He denies any intent on his part to defraud Rudolph, or appropriate the $700 to his own use. He says that he went from Huntingburg to Henderson, Ky.t as he had previously promised his brother he would do, to purchase buggies for their livery stable in Oakland City. That when he got toHenderson that he rounded up in a saloon,got drunk and was robbed of the $700, all ofthe other money he had, his gold watch and revolver.
