Rev. Jacob Wirili had charge of the services, which deeply impressed the large audience, special music was furnished by the Evangelical church£ quartet. Rev. Wirth’s text was froms- the Twenty-ninth Psalm, the fourth a’» verse—'’Lord., make me to know my end and the measure of my days, what it Is, that I may know how frail 1 am. From this appropriate text he preached a eernr.on full of comfort to the sorrow* Lag friends and which brought all present to think of the seriousness of living. After the sermon, he read a short obitu-jq ; ary and the friends were allowed to view the remains.The church hud been beautifully decorated with flowers by sympathetic friend* and was Ailed to overflowing. 7P When the services were ended, the body — was Laken to the Saylorville cemetery 31 x«r interment.* Edwin Til ion was bom May 20, 1S48, in Mobile county, O., and met death| at the hands of a murderer on the even-* ins of September G, 1899, near Highland m Park college, being 51 years of age.£ When he was two years old, he came 2$ wivh his parents to Iowa, where hejr. grew to manhood. In 18T9, he marriedn£* Miss Elva Townsend, who died after ar* few years, leaving him two children. In^ 1SSS, he married Miss Rosa Brown and this second union has been blessed with r- two children. Besides this wife and four children, he leaves two brothers and ^ two sisters.Xy Mr. Tilton lived about a mile north Lo of Highland Park college, where he had u- a farm. He dealt principally in hay und wood, ar.d was a man held in very .* high esteem, by everybody who has had -** dealings with him. He was at one time of class leader in the Evangelical church, and a very active worker.He was sober, industrious and upright—-n man who believed in justice and just dealings. Neighbors and business men declare that he was the soul ** of honor, and a motel of integrity—a k* man who lived for his family, and who toiled early and late for them.H- He kissed his wife good-bye, as usual n- on Wednesday morning, and just at the evening supper time, when she was ex-n-•ft•—terors-pecting hie return, a neighbor came and fried to tell her the awful news of his y. death.,•iv it seems that Mr. Tilton has had heart trouble lately, and the idea was at first conveyed to his wife that this en had killed him.
