When i Tourville returned home he decided I * not to enter the case personally but to hire some transient to do it.I He accordingly went to the county I 1 transients’ home and made the offer j 1 to Mr. Hall who accepted for $50, j lt;according to his signed confession.Hall moved into the LaMotte home where he started digging a well So as not to arouse curiosity of the neighbors. He says that he set fire to the place at 3 a. m. on May 31, saturating the upper floor with kerosene. After seeing that the fire had a good start, he ran over to the home of Roy Weast and told him the place was on fire. Mr. Weast, accompanied by otherneighbors, rushed over and succeeded in putting out the fire before much damage was done.Green wn hi[Suspicions of the'deputy state fire marshal were aroused when the place was destroyed by fire on Aug. 15 and he launched his investigation. Hall was taken into custody yesterday morning and was questioned by Mr. Greenwald and Fire Marshal Hartnett for six hours before making his confession. Tourville was taken into custody late last night but did not confess until this morning.Mr. Greenwald was taking the necessary steps to go to North Dakota after Roy LaMotte when he drove up to the home of friends in Lake Pnrk last evening and was immediately taken into custody by deputy sheriffs who knew of the issuance of a warrant for his arrest. Mr. LaMotte told the story of the plotted fire to the deputy fire marshal, his story agreeing in all details with that of Mr. Tourville with the exception of his statement that he could not remember how much he promised Tourville as his end.Will Plead Late Today.1e cMr. Greenwald says the LaMotte home was valued at around $800 but that it was insured for $1,000 while the furniture was valued at $160 and was insured for $500.All three men were taken before Court Commissioner Wendt this morning where they waived preliminary hearings. They werebound over to the municipal court for trial under bonds of $1,000 each. The prisoners are to be taken before Judge E. Roy Burgess late today. All have indicated that theywill plead guilty.
