DR. CLAYTON TESTIFIESDr. Clayton was called to the witness stand and according to his evidence, if McGregor received woundsi described by Lafayette surgeons, itj would have been almost impossible • for deceased to have remained eon-I scious for some time after the blow was struck. He would have been ■ rendered unconscious and remainedl in that state for some time. Dr. Clayton said it would have been possible for him to have got up hitched horse up and drive to Oxford, but very improbable.McGregors reputation goodAt this point the defense rested their case and the state introduced ten witnesses to prove the reputation of deceased for peace and quietude in the community in which he resided.Among the witnesses who swore that his reputation was good were: Dan Messner, Jess Voliva, Wm. Vincent, Thos. Carr, Frank Scott, Edward Zeis, Wm. Nichols, Mrs. Mary Finch and Frank Kenyon. At twoo’clock Friday afternoon the introduction of evidence was concluded and the Court gave each side three hours to argue the case before the jury.ARGUMENTS TO JURYDeputy Prosecutor Wilbur Nolin made the opening argument for the state and talked almost two hours. Mr. Nolin made a very forceful argu ment and able plea for conviction ofthe defendant, and established his reputation as an orator and lawyer “farther north” than he has heretofore set it.Mr. Nolin was followed by Elmore Barce, senior counsel for Crump who made an eloquent appeal for the ac-quital of the defendant. Mr. Barce was at his best and no doubt his address was one of the most convincing he has ever delivered before a Benron county jury. Attorney Shelby closed the argument for the defense, going over all the evidence in the case and bringing out the weak points, of the state’s evidence in a masterful way.The closing argument for the state was made by Prosecutor Mehaffey whoreviewed the case in detail and ended with an appeal for conviction.Constipation the Father of Many IllsOf the numerous ills that affect humanity a large share start with constipation.
