Up Fight and Beats Off Her AssailantSTATE OFFICER ON JOBBy putting up a most strenuous fight and battling desperately, Miss Lulu Comer, teacher of the Victoryschool in Carroll township, probably prevented a repetition of the tragedy which occurred at Manifold recently, when pretty 18-year-old Celia Funka was assaulted and choked to death by an unknown assailant. Miss Comer was assaulted by an unknown man while on her way home from school Friday evening, but by her pluck and courage succeeded in beating oft' her assailant Lefore he accomplished his ends.Miss Comer, who is the daughter of Anthony Comer, and lives in the Victory district, was detained at the school house until S o’clock attending a school board meeting. On her way home while passing a lonely spot a man appeared suddenly, who had evidently been in waiting and grabbed her. Then it was that the young woman put up the fight of her life, and so good an account of her prowess did she give that the man was not able at any time to overpower her. She also screamed for help and finding his eirorts unavailing the man left her and fled.She ran home, gave the alarm andat once search was madi for thescoundrel. It so happened that aState constable was on the streetcar from Donora to Clack Diamond,and he wqpt back and joined in thesearch. At last accounts no tracehad vet been found of the assailant. *... » .
