A. Gartland who reside above the State bank across the street from the Mulder store and from the window Mr. Gartland saw the burglars at work. Hastily he went out the back way and up an alley so as not to alarm probable watchers of the thieves to the Ideal restaurant where he was joined by P. Minmaugh and a moment later Night Policeman De Lange was found and the trio started in haste for the scene of the burglaryt • |but escape had been made before the spot was reached. Mrs. Gartland and son had been watching and they• isaw a tall man and a short man leave the premises and start off northeast.
