THE MOJAVE MYSTERY.skele-r j The (’oroner*« I n\e»T IgNtiou of the S ton Found \ar I'lmt Plttee.!Coroner Helm went to Mojave Sat-^ urday and held an inquest over the J skeleton found three and a half miles ! southeast of that place last Wednesday by a man by the name of Louis Buck. The investigation showed that the skeleton was that of a man slightly below medium size and somewhere beyond middle age. and that he came to his death from some unknown*cause, possibly some time last winter.Buck turned over a watch to the Coroner, which he claimed that he found some distance from where he discovered the skeleton. It is a sil-ver watch, below the average size, of Waltham make. On the inside of the front case is scrolled the name, “F.IG. Bickley. The make of the silver chain attached is that of one long link and three short ones.| The man’s hat, shoes and pants | were in a fair state of preservation. The hat is a small black felt one. the under side of the brim being lined with satin. The shoes were estimated to be number sixes. The pants are of a bluish material and of tine texture.A money belt was picked up where the skeleton was found, which seemed to have been freshly torn open and 011 the inside of it was plainly visible j the imprints of coin. Buck claimed that he tore the belt open but denied that there was anvcoin in it. It is be-j lieved that there was, because, it is alleged, he told several different . stories about it. It is claimed that Buck was Hush with money shortly after he made the discovery. He had a partner with him when he found the skeleton and it is claimed that the I partner has skipped out. It i$ also alleged that Buck did not tell a straight story as to where he found the watch.j The place where the skeleton was found is within sight of the A. P. railroad. The Coroner thinks it is 1 more than likely that the man was drinking and started away from Mojave and perished for want of water. ! f
