The rim of her left ear was cut so that a piece an inch and a half Ion# hung down from the lobe. JustImek of the ear was a cut. three Inches long that had laid hare the hone and turned thescalp hack so that the wound gapped near-ly an inch wide. This ghastly injury bad been indicted by her stejnson, David Johns, a hoy fourteen years old, with a hatchet.hr. ltockinnn stitched up the wounds and, while he further dressed the in. she told her atory in a voice broken with uiany sofa. After breakfast yesterday morning she told her step-daughter, a girl of 17 years, to do some work in the kitchen. A jar between the two ensued in which the boy took a hand on his sister’s part. Shortly after the lw»y came up ami struck the blow that indicted the wound deseriled. Mrs. Johns la a comely woman of about SH years and according'to her description her life must lohard one.
