Blaze that injuredfirefighter wasintentionally setLOUISVILLE (AP) — A firefighter injured two weeks ago battling a house fire that was deliberately set died Monday at the University of Louisville Hospital.Craig Drury, a 24-year-oldHighview firefighter and theson of the department’schief, was injured Aug. 24 in an arson fire at the home of a white couple who had been caring for two black foster children.A statuette of a black child was found hanging from a tree by a clothesline, and police have said they are investigating the arson as a racially motivated hate crime.Drury was among five Highview Fire Departmentfirefighters injured in the blaze. Three suffered relatively minor injuries; the fourth, Keith Recktenwald, was released from the hospital Sunday.Drury is the second Jefferson County firefighter to die because of an arson fire in just over a month.Louisville fire Sgt. John Strawn Nutter, 28, died early Aug. 4 when he fell through the roof of a burning mini-warehouse. Investigators have said that fire was deliberately set to cover up a burglary.
