KEEY 1 -S being sworn as llic law directs, saitli on his oath that to thebest of his recollection in the honorable the luicrit 1 Chan t for Putnam county in December, 1812, he heard John Coweii, John Woods,and Janies M’Ciaughee, swe ar that James Jernigan was a uihu not to he depended tiponon his oath. Deponent sailh this testimony of the before named persons was relnned by highly respectable witnesses.— Subsequent to this affair, deponent heard Mr. John Glover declare that the reasons that his sous-in-law, John Cowen and John Woods, so swore against Mr. Jcrnigan, was that they heard said Jcrnigan, tell Mr. John Kimbrough to go away, and not attend that Court as a witness', Jesse T. P.,1G KORGT.1, Putnam cour.ti;.OHN KIMBROUGH being sworn asthe law directs, saith on his oath, that he wa . fuhpcncd as a witness to attend before the honrahle the Superior Court for Putnam county, in the year, 1812, and in a case then pending therein between Janies M’Ciaughee and James Jcrnigan—that then ndcr.'anding that there was a state’s warrant in an officers hands against him, he concluded to absent himself from the Court, until the matter in which lie was inhere stod-could be settled—when walking the street he saw Mr. Jernigun setting a house, and who called'upon deponent to come in ; deponent stated to Mr. jernigan his reasons for not doing so, who in replj said he will catch you in Court; and said yon maj any how take a drink of glog with me, which he then handed to deponent. Deponent solemnly avers that the said J. Jcrnigan never expressed a wish for deponent’s absenting himself from Court, or offered him any inducement so to do, or insinuated a wish for hint to art in any suchmanner.
