(AP) - A speeding car smashed into the rear of a patrol car early today on U.S. 460 south of Belleville,‘ seriously injuring two St. Clair County deputy sheriffs.The deputies, who were taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, are Ted Kowalski, 38, Jof East St. Louis, and Vincent ’ Neuner, 45, of Belleville,The driver of the car was James R. Gladson, 23, of St. Louis. The State Highway Patrol said the deputies had slowed to check a car parked off the high-iway when Gladson passed a . tractor - trailer, cut back and : slammed into the rear of the pa- f* trol car at about 65 miles an'. hour. Gladson suffered minor injuries although his car overturned . and was demolished. The patrol car overturned three times.Herbert Juelds, 33, of Wood I River, 111., was driving the truck.E The accident occurred about 4 a.m. near the intersection of 460 !lt; with South 50th St. on the south !
