We lonru from the Edgefield Adctr-of Thursday, that there occurred on tlio Kidge iu that county, on the previous Friday, a most lamentahlo alVair, resulting iu the violent death of one of the oldest and most respected citizens of the county, Adam Minick, Esq. Of the household of Mr. Miuick was a young man. a nophew of Mrs. Minick, named Minick Smith, aged about *2.i years. Smith assisted Mr. Minick in the general management of the latters plantation. On the day mentioned above the two on-gaged in a desperate hand to hand con-llict, which resulted fatally for Minick. The particulars of the atVair as reported to the Alt;Irt!rti«rr were as follows: Mr. Minick, hoc^ning irritated, suddenly lost control of himself, and, catching Smith by the throat, proceeded to pummel him over the head with a piece of bo»rd. Hereupon Smith, \wth the sole intention, ho says, of intimidating the old man, and cutting himself loose without really .injuring his antagonist, drew a knife and inflicted a wound upon the body of Mr. Minick of which ho died in about ten niinutoR. Mr. Smith, who is represented as being crazed with grief and horror, made his escape and is still at large. Mr. Minick was aged about a gentleman of unblemished reputation.
