Clegg who held him for further investiga jtion. The arrest was made on the strength of a telephone mes sage from Frank Masters of Henry ville,a brother of Patrol man James Masteis of this city Masters had just bought a sor rel raa-e and fine buggy from Dismuke Smith for *G0 and had then furnished the latter, who had driven out there iruhis own buggy, with another buggy and man to drive him back to the city. The more Masters thought over the purchase the better he liked the bargain but the morehe was atraid there was soire thing wrong and at last he noti fied Capt Clegg.Investigation by Capt Clegg convinced him the man owned the mare aRd buggy although he had undoubtedly acted foolish |y in selling it at such a price. The investigation further show ed that he was not regared at bis home as bright He lives with a sister Sarah Smith nearLawerenceburg, Ky., and information about him and his con dition was secured by the ofti zer over the phone from Mr*Celia Armstrong, Iwho keeps a hotel in Louisville near the stockyards, {and from Samuel Eismaa of near Burgin.
