The two men advanced to the place in which Moon was hiding and ordered him to come forth and submit to arrest. The man refused and the officers immediately opened fire on him, having a knowledge of his desperate nature and knowing that he would stop at nothing rather than submit to incarceration. Two bullets were fired into the place, both of which took effect, one entering his leg and the other penetrating his left shoulder and coming out in the back near the shoulder blade. The officers heard his groans of agony and immediately entered the place. Moon was making his last gasps when they reached him and shortly after expired. The body was taken to Eau Claire about 3 o’clock this morning and an inquest was called which resulted in the acquittal of the two officers, they having satisfactorily proved that their course was justifiable.Moon’s father lives at Eau Claireand his son’s body was immediatelyturned over to his care.
