For some time past several cowboys have been In towu, and tho fight was between City Marshal Virgil Earp. his two brothers, Morgan and Wyatt Karp, and Doc. Holliday on one aide, and Ik© and Billy Clanton and Frank and Tom McLowery on the other. Tho Clanton and McLowery brothers aro known a*cowboys, and Ike has boeu in town for the pa-t week drinking pretty freely, and was arrested this morning for carrying concealed weapons, ho having appeared on the street with a Winchester ntlo and a six-shooter on. After paying his fine ho is reported to have made th’rcatu agaiiiHtMarshal Earp and his brothers, and it is known that bad blood has existed botwocn them for some time. About *2:30 o’elock tho Marshal requested his brothers. Morgan and Wyatt, and Doo. Holliday to accompauy him to aid in disarming tho cowboys, as trouble was feared in tho evening. They startod down towards thoO. K. Corral on Fremont street, and a few doors below tho Nugget oflice saw the two CUnton and McLowery brothers talking to Sheriff Behan, who had requested them to disarm. Tho Marshal called out, ' Boys, throw up your hands; I want you to give up your shooter*. •THIRTY HnOTS IX A MINUTE.At this Frank McLowery attempted to draw his pistol, when Wyatt Karp immediately shot him, tho ball entering just about tho waist. Doc. Holliday then let go at Tom McLowory with a idmtguu, filling him full of buckshot under the right arm. Billy Clanton then blazed away at Marshal Earp, and lko Clanton, who it is claimed was unarmed, started and ran off through the corral to Allen street. The firing then became general, and some 30 shots were fired, all in such rapid succession that tho fight was over in less than a minute. When the smoko had clearedaway it was found that Frank McLowery bad loen killed outright, with one ball through tho intestines, ouo in the left breast aud one in tho right templo. tho latter two wounds being received at the same iuatant. Torn McLowery lay dead around the corner of Third street, a few feet from Fremont, tho load of buckshot fired by Holliday killing him almost instantly. Billy Clanton lay on the street with one shot in the wrist aud another in the right sido, near tho waist, and the third in tho left nipple. Ho was taken into a liouso and lived about half an hour in groat agony.IXJCBIB8 OF THE WOUNDED.Morgan Earp was shot through both shoulders, tho hall grazing tho skin. Marshal Earp was shot through the tleshy part of the right log. Wyatt Earp and Dock Holliday escaped unhurt. The shooting created great excitement, and the street was immediately filled with people. Iko Clanton was captured aud taken to Jail, whore he now remains. Tho jail is guarded by a number of citizens to prevent lynching, of which there is no apparent danger. The threo dead bodies were removed to tbe Morgue, where they now lio. It is reported that several thousand dollars were found on tho bodies. Tho feeling of tho better claai* of citizens i* that the Marshal and his posse acted sololy in the right in attempting to disarm the cowboys, aud that it was aeaseof kill or got killed. Clanton's father was killed with four others a few months ago'in New Mexico by the Mexicans while driving a band of cattle up to thin market. The town is qniet and the authorities aro fully able to maintain order.The acme of politeness was reached by tho Nevada mining Superintendent who posted a placard reading: ‘'Please do not tumble down the shaft.—Detroit Free Press.
