Bondas set at $35,000 on each count. Mrs. McCallister was shotfour times at close range with a30-30 rifle and Ward was shotauthoritiesAccording to Navarro County sheriff's officers and Ennis City Police, McCallister, a railroad employee, and his wife were in the process of getting a divorce, which was to become finaltoday, it was learned from officers. Investigators said: McCallister reportedly went to Mrs. McCallister’s Rice home just before 6:00 a.m., entered the house and thenreturned to his automobile andgot a rifle. He then re-entered the house and fired two shots at Ward at point-blank range, striking Ward in the chest andarm.
