MUSSLEREarly signs point to overdose deathMIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Medical examiners say they’ll need more tests before determining what caused the death of Candace Mossier. But they say early findings indicate she died of a sedative overdose.Mrs. Mossier, who gained worldwide fame in 1966 when tried and acquitted for the brutal murder of her millionaire husband, Jacques Mossier, died Tuesday in her sleep at the Fontainebleau Hotel.“Gross findings are consistent with a drug overdose death,’’ Dr. Joseph Davis, Dade County's chief medical examiner, said Wednesday after an autopsy. Preliminary toxicology tests indicate the presence of more than one drug and include ethchlorvynol.”That drug is often used to induce sleep.Miami Beach police said Mrs. Mossier, who had said she was 5$ but according to relt;6rds was seven years older, had been treated for a headache early Tuesday. They said her physician gave her injections of a mild pain killer and an antinausea drug.The physician, Dr. Jules Trop, said he doubted the injections would causeoverdose.I think that her heart gave out.” Trop said.Detective Stanley Steinbre-cher said police found at Mrs. Mossler's bedside a bottle that normally would contain 30 sleeping pills. He said the prescription had been filled three days earlier but that only four tablets were left.
