40th Anniversary of the Swedish Lutheran Church,On Nov. 3 of next week it will be exactly 40 years since the local Swedish Lutheran church was organized. The anniversary will be celebrated with appropriate festivities, beginning Tuesday evening, Nov. 2 at 7:30 o’clock. During the festivities the Burlington District Conference will also be in session which will bring a number of noted Swedish divines to the city.On Tuesday evening the opening addresses will be delivered by Rev. E. S. Fernberg of Lockridge, and Rev. C. J. Sodergren of Burlington.On Wednesday at 10:30 a. m., Swedish services will be held and the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated. Rev. G. A. Swanburg of Woodhull, III,, formerly pastor of the local church from 1891-1899, and Rev. J. P. Borg of Wausa, Neb., who was also pastor of the local cnurch from 1900 till 1907 will speak.At 12:30 p. m., the congregation will unite in a family dinner in the church basement.At 2:30 p. m., the main 40th anniversary program will be given when Revs. Swaoburg and Borg will speak about their pastoral days in Chariton; letters and greetings from former pastors and members unable to be present will be read: and a history of the local church during the oast 40 years will be given by Rev. Elmquist.At 7:30 p. mM fifteen minute addresses will be delivered by six of the visiting pastors interspersed with music and singing by the orchestra and the choir.On Thursday at 10 a. mM the District Conference holds its business session.At 2:30 p. m.,-there will be a discussion on the theme of Hebr. 10:23-25 fn which all pastors present will partake.At 7:30 p. m., the anniversary will close with a grand Jubiled program to which an admission of 25c for adults and 15c for children over 12 years of age will be charged.All programs will oe given in Swedish except this concert program to which all our city friends are cordially invited.GRAND JUBILEE CONCERT.7:30 p. m.PART I.Orchestra—“The Holy Cityf’....AdatnsCornet Solo, Erney Johnson.
