Barry TruesdaleBy BRIAN EVANSgevans@limanews.com419-993-2098WAPAKONETA—The operator of a locomotive could only blow his whistle and watch in horror Friday afternoon as a man dressed in black sat on railroad tracks while a 77-car CSX train barreled toward him before crossing over the Auglaize River.Exactly what a man dressed in black was doing on the tracks is a mystery to authorities in Wapakoneta, but police say he is lucky to be alive.Lt. Barry Truesdale, of the Wapakoneta Police Department, said the man, whose name and age have not been released, was sitting on the trestle with his feet dangling over the edge when the train approached him.He made no effort to get out ofthe way until the last second — if at all. Truesdale said no one is certain if the train hit him. If it did, rescue workers said, it just brushed him.The man ended up tumbling a couple dozen feet into the Auglaize River below, where he suffered injuries from the fall.
