At the Old Bailey today the champagne label case came to an end. The accused were James Thompson, a waiter; William Rowe, a steward; Alexander Wright, a waiter; and James Gosling, otherwise Tiddler, a clerk. . The case for the prosecution showed that the prisoners became possessed of some cheap champagne. To the bottles they ap ply labels, by. .which the wine purported the “1898 Brut Imperial Meet and Chan don,”’ and “ Heidseick and Co., Dry Mono poly, 1898.” . .Thompson was sentenced to nine months, Rowe to six months, Wright to one month, and Gosling, who was found not guilty, was discharged.
