The discovery was made try the woman’s husband, when he entered the house with Charles Eckert, 18, a 1 boarder at the house, on their return from their day’s work at the Farrin-Kom Dumber company's yard, in Winton Place.Harley Hackney, the murdered worn- 1 an’s husband, Charles Eckert and Her-i* man Schweringet, a mulatto boy, were ;1 looked up at the Tenth District station at!I o’clock on charges of suspicion. They 1 had been questioned closely by Chief j t Jackson and all told flimsy tales, according to the pdllce.The police and the coroner Immediately * 5 began an investigation of the horrible 1 crime. The affair is surrounded with f mystery. T^p to a late hour last night ^ the officers were unable to find a motive ^ or clew to the perpetrators of the dastardly deed.Recalls Similar Murders.The horrible crime, following the simi- ^ lar murders of Duella Mueller, Alma f Steinegeweg and Mary McDonald In that section of the city, has aroused the resi- f dents of Cumminsville. The woman’s ^ throat was cut and her head crushed in ( the same manner as the other two women.
