Johnson resides about two miles from the Baum. place and has been paying marked attentions to Carl Baum’s mother for several years, which has always been ic-sen red by young Baum. Thursday night Johnson, after paying his usual visit to Mrs. Baum, got into an altercation with the young fellow, who is a cripple, and knocked him down. After arising he drew his revolver and fired four shols at Johnson, only two taking effect. One shot struck his leg and the other passed through his arm and entered his breast, piercijg one of his lungs. Young Baum treated the affair rnther indifferently and a short time after went to bed. He was arrested by Sheriff Green and placed in custody to await the outcome of Johnson's wounds.
