Frankovitch SaysHeStills About4 ■ .! 1 •- Mercer, Oct, 25,—Tlie trial or£ John Frankovitch of' Farrell, charged with the unlawful manufacturing1 of liciuor, was started in court room No. 2, under Judge George Baldwin, late Wednesday afternoon. Commonwealth officers: testified that the- two good-sized stills in operation and several barrels of mash and spirits were taken In the ffiid made on the house, ,Frankovitch. in his defense alleged that while he owned the lioiise, it was a rented property and that he had no Icnowledge of' the making of liquor on the. promises.Frankovitch was convicted on. a liquor charge in- the Mereei- county courts some time ago. This case would go* to the jury following arguments d£ counsel at a late hour this morning.In the action tn which Sam Reed is defendant , to an aggravated assault and battery charge the i case was continued, clue to the illness of a material witness for the Common-vvealtli,Ernest Bell, of. Sharon, was found not guilty of the charge of larceny by bailee. David Keese, of Sharpsvillo, was found guilty of unlawfully transporting liquor.
