Mrs. Goldstein Jailed LITTLE ROCK. — Federal Judge Trimble ordered bonds totaling $15,000 set aside for Mrs. Goldstein, one of^ seven defendants in the Alvin KarpistlV;e:irharboring conspiracy trial in United States District Court, and committed her to the Pulaski county juil for the duration of the trial Saturday after the government charged she had Jntimi-^ dated three of its witnesses.The bonds included one for $10,000 posted for her on a charge of conspiracy to harbor Kurpisj one time Public Enemy No. 1, and another for $5,000 posted on a Mann act indict-§ mcnt, charging her with bringing a girl from Bollosm, Tex., to Hot Springs in 1935 for immoral purposes.Officers removed her from a room in the Ben McGehee hotel to a familiar cell in the jail which she occupied sev-^ oral months ago after being brought back from* Los Ar.geLs, Cat. ~She was arrested there by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation as she prepared to board a steamer for Honolulu.The witnesses Involved in the intimidation charge were not identified by ? United States Attorney Fred A. Isgrig. but there were indications that they were Gertrude Thcrese Nichols, Jewell Grctta Gilstrap and Della May Jefferies, three girls formerly employed in Mrs. Goldsteain’s hoiises of prosli-^ tulion in Hot'Springs, who testified for the governVmmt Friday.These girls followed Mrs. Goldstein and F. B. I. agents into Judge Trimble’s chambers before beginning of the morning session. Mrs. Goldstein and^ the girts emerged from the conference with flushed faces as if there had been some words between them.The house detective at the hotel reported ho had been called up to the girls’ rooms several limes during the night to answer complaints that Mrs. | ♦ Goldstein was creating a disturbance.
