Man Is Charged In Kidnap AttemptFORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (UPI) — Broward County authorities today were holding one of three men who kidnaped a Fort Lauderdale airplane broker in an unsuccessful extortion plot Tuesday while a two-county search was underway for his two accomplices.Vincent Joseph Lynch, 34, was charged with kidnaping, attempted extortion, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of stolen property in Dade County, where he was arrested, and with one count of false imprisonment and one count of armed robbery in Broward.According to police reports. Lynch and two other men kidnaped James Scott Harvey, 35, from his Fort Lauderdale home at gunpoint Tuesday morning. The kidnapers drove Harvey to the office of his Miami attorney, Burton Levy, where they hoped to obtain a key to Harvey's safe deposit box containing a reported $50,000 in cash.Before they arrived in Levy’s office, Fort Lauderdale police alerted Miami authorities who captured Lynch. The other two men managed to escape.
