BELIEVE VAN VLEET BOGUS CHECK PASSERCharles Van Vleefc, who. was captured iii the Spielbergtailor shop at 57 West Second South street, .by Detectives George Cleveland and Bert Seagor, is believed by thG police to be the man who has done much of the worthless check passing in this city during the past'few weeks, lie is* held in the city jail and will answer today to a charge of forgery. The detectfvos as* serf that he has passed numerous worth* Jess' checks and that they have a good case against him.The detectives hail been on Van Vleet’s trail for the past two weeks when a' message came from the Spiel*, berg place. asking for deteetivos to come and look at a check before the tailor took it. The cheek was not signed in a regular why, which aroused the suspicions of the detectives as ..well as the tailor, and t.h© man who was confidently waiting.was searched. Papers found ou Van Vlfccfc led to fur-' tlier investigation and the officers now believe:-that Van Vluot is responsible for pracsica^y all of the bogus checks that have been passed lately. Among those that are laid at hie door arc two for $15 and one -for $20 oti Gardner Ic Adams; one for $5 on John Peters, 1 one for $27 on the Beehive Clothing company and one for $27.50 on tho Spielberg Tailoring company.
