Verbarg is notin reality a citizen of the United States, having failed to take out his naturalization papers. If this be true It is held by authorities that he cannot legally hold the office of Sheriff to which he was recently elected. And it is further stated that business done by him as Sheriff, under the circumstances would not be done legally. In view of these facts papers in contest have been filed in the auditor’s office showing that Mr. Lewis H. Hill received the highest number of votes cast for any one legally qualified to hold the office. The case will take its proper course through the proper court.
