Woman’s Body FoundAZTEC — The body of an unidentified woman was found at the old dump about two miles west of Aztec Friday,Deputy state medical investigator Tom Faure said the body was found by a man hunting rabbits just before noon.He said the partially decomposed and mummified body is that of a woman aged in her 40s or 50s.Faure could not say how long the woman had been at the dump, but said her death appeared to have been “recent.” He said there had not been any attempt to bury the body, and there was no hard evidence of foul play, although the investigation is continuing.A determination of the cause of death, and identification, awaits an autopsy. Faure said the body will be sent to the state Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque thismorning.San Juan County Deputy Detective Alan Jones said there is “no indication of foul play” and investigators suspect the woman may have died of exposure.Investigators said they were considering the possibility that the body may be that of 50-year-old Bemadine Thompson, who disappeared from her Aztec home Sept. 21. She was reported missing to Aztec police earlier this month.
