Former Tipton Man Shot In Armed Robbery AttemptBilly Barrett, age 25, formerly of Tipton, was fatally shot ' Monday at 3 p.m. in Gainsville, Florida. . Florida detectives notified Tipton Police Chief, Jim Pratt of the shooting and reported that Barrett was killed during an attempted armed robbery. A friend with;.Barrett fled in a car and following a 35 mile police chase was apprehended. .Barrett is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy McDaniel, 459 Mill street; According to Mrs. McDaniel, she was notified by authorities at 10 p.m. Monday. She stated that the man’s father, Clarence Barrett, of Noblesville, left for Florida to identify the victim. Services are pending at Evans-Godby Funeral Home in Noblesville and will be announced when the body is returned either Wednesday or Thursday.Surviving with the parents is a widow and two children.
